Bringing Science to Life: The Interdisciplinary Advantage

On April 27, 2011, the National Center for Research Resources and NINR co-sponsored a half-day meeting designed to improve interdisciplinary research participation.

"Bringing Science to Life: The Interdisciplinary Advantage" was held in conjunction with the joint annual meeting of the Association for Clinical Research Training and the Society for Clinical and Translational Science.

Experts shared information about successful interdisciplinary collaborations that have advanced the translational trajectory from bench to bedside, and to community practice.

Presenters:
  • Identified opportunities and challenges when planning and conducting interdisciplinary research.
  • Highlighted successful exemplars of interdisciplinary research.
  • Analyzed essential components of interdisciplinarity and characteristics that enhance research.
  • Discussed and developed strategies to maximize diverse disciplinary strengths.
