Recovery Act Limited Competition: Academic Research Enhancement Awards (R15)

Summary The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), supported by ARRA, is to stimulate research in schools of nursing that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees for a significant number of the Nation's research scientists, but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. AREA grants create opportunities for scientists and institutions otherwise unlikely to participate extensively in NIH programs to contribute to the Nation's biomedical and behavioral research effort. AREA grants are intended to support small-scale health-related research projects proposed by faculty members of eligible domestic institutions. This initiative is one of several being offered by NIH and NINR to help fulfill the goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act or ARRA) to help stimulate the economy through support of biomedical and behavioral research.
