Palliative (pal-lee-uh-tiv) care is comprehensive treatment of the discomfort, symptoms and stress of serious illness. It is a key part of care for children living with a serious illness and an important source of support for their families. The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), a part of the National Institutes of Health, developed the Palliative Care: Conversations Matter® campaign to increase the use of palliative care for children and teens living with serious illnesses. This website provides information and resources for pediatric patients, their families, and their health care providers.
