NINR Welcomes New Acting Director, Division of Extramural Science Programs

photo of Dr. AndersonNINR is pleased to welcome Kathleen Anderson, PhD as the Acting Director of its Division of Extramural Science Programs. Dr. Anderson will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the Institute's extramural scientific programs, grants management, and scientific merit review.

Dr. Anderson is on loan to NINR fulltime through spring – referred to at NIH as a detail – from the National Institute of Mental Health, where she currently serves as the Deputy Director, Division of Translational Research. At NIMH she supports programs of research and training that translate knowledge from basic science to discover the etiology, pathophysiology, and trajectory of mental disorders and the development of effective interventions for children and adults. She is also the co-chair of the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research Coordinating Committee.

Dr. Anderson received her BA in Biopsychology from Vassar College and her PhD in Neuroscience from Rutgers University.
