NINR's Graduate Partnerships Program 2021 Application Period Now Open

The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for its 2021 Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP). The NINR GPP is an Institutional Partnership that combines the academic environment of a university with the comprehensive research resources available at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NINR invites all PhD doctoral nursing students to consider this unique research training opportunity.

A graduate nursing student selected to become an NINR GPP fellow conducts doctoral coursework at the partnership university. After all coursework is completed, the fellow then comes to the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, to begin research toward a doctoral dissertation. NINR GPP fellows focus their dissertation research primarily in pathophysiological mechanisms related to symptoms and symptom management, health promotion, disease prevention, tissue injury, and genetics. The fellow’s academic advisor and an NIH scientist serve as co-mentors throughout the dissertation process, which is completed at NIH in coordination with the fellow’s dissertation committee.

NINR’s Division of Intramural Research Training Director Dr. Pamela Tamez encourages PhD nursing students to consider the program, noting “the NINR GPP is an excellent opportunity for students to work with renowned scientists and have access to world-class NIH facilities as well as the outstanding educational, career, and networking experiences.” NINR GPP fellows also receive support for up to three years, including a stipend, tuition allowance, health insurance, and modest funds for travel/training courses.
