NINR and the National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus® have teamed up to offer a text message campaign for those living with serious illnesses and their families. The campaign launched on February 5, 2018 and offers weekly messages about palliative care in English and Spanish.
Palliative care’s primary purpose is to relieve the pain and other symptoms associated with serious illnesses and improve quality of life. The text messages provide information about what palliative care is, the benefits of palliative care, and how to manage the symptoms of a serious illness. Messages include palliative care information for both adult and pediatric patients and their families.
If you or your loved one is living with a serious illness and you would like to sign up for the campaign, click here, or text MP CARE to 468311 for English messages or MP CUIDAR to 468311 for Spanish messages. Visit the text message campaign webpage for more details.
