NINR recently released a two and half minute video that provides a straightforward overview of pediatric palliative care for families, providers and organizations. This consumer-friendly resource is part of NINR’s Palliative Care: Conversations Matter® campaign.
The video, which is also available with Spanish captions, uses an animated approach to guide viewers through the services that pediatric palliative care encompasses. The video explains in simple terms that palliative care:
- is not the same as hospice and can be provided alongside, not instead of, other treatments;
- can enhance quality of life for children and families; and
- offers support to the entire family while respecting family culture and beliefs.
"The video helps breakdown the elements of pediatric palliative care into easy-to-understand concepts. Many people are unsure of what this type of care includes. This video illustrates the important components of pediatric palliative care and communicates the many benefits it can have for patients and their families," said NINR Director Dr. Patricia A. Grady.
NINR’s Palliative Care: Conversations Matter® campaign aims to raise awareness of and improve communications about pediatric palliative care. This evidence-based communications campaign offers materials for health care providers and for families that have children living with serious illnesses.
