On September 14, 2021, Dr. Mi-Kyung Song will present “Addressing One of the Most Enduring Challenges in Health Care: End-of-Life Decision Making” from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (ET).
In this NINR Director’s Lecture, Dr. Song will present her research in developing and testing an end-of-life communication intervention targeting patients with chronic illness and their family caregivers, spanning all stages of the NIH Stage Model of behavioral intervention development research.

About the Speaker
Mi-Kyung Song, PhD, RN, FAAN is a Professor, Edith F. Honeycutt Chair in Nursing, and Director of the Center for Nursing Excellence in Palliative Care at Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Song’s research is focused on palliative and end-of-life care, including advance care planning, treatment decision-making, family caregiving, symptoms, and family’s post-bereavement outcomes. With intensive training in theory-guided intervention development and testing, clinical trials, and biostatistics, she has led numerous NIH-funded intervention trials to improve end-of-life decision making and family’s post-bereavement outcomes across various patient populations, including targeted research in African American populations in multiple U.S. states.
