Collage of Nurses and Midwives

NINR will recognize the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife throughout 2020 with events and initiatives. We hope that you will join us by spreading the word, attending events, and staying connected. Read a message from NINR’s Acting Director about NINR’s recognition of the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

National Nurses Week – NINR will celebrate National Nurses Week, which is observed each year from May 6–12, to coincide with Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12. But you don’t need to wait until May to check out ways that nurses and nurse scientists are changing lives. Learn how nursing research is improving patient outcomes with our Stories of Discovery. Or read through our Research Highlights that feature research accomplishments from the community of NINR-supported scientists across the U.S.

Mini-Symposium - NINR will hold a mini-symposium to highlight the contributions of nurse scientists to the field of nursing. More details will be coming soon.

Director’s Lecture Series – We invite you to NINR’s ongoing Director’s Lecture Series which brings the nation’s top nurse scientists to the NIH campus to share their work and interests with a transdisciplinary audience.

“What Does Nursing Research Mean to You?” Feedback Campaign - In honor of this special year, NINR will gather insights from the community on what nursing research means to them and what they think the future holds for nursing science. These insights will be collected online. Stay tuned for more information.
