Summary: NINR-supported researchers found racial disparities in clinical presentation and outcomes for patients presenting to the emergency department with potential acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Disparities included more risk factors, more numerous and more severe symptoms, and poorer outcomes one month after discharge from the hospital among black patients compared to white patients. Understanding racial disparities in the symptom experience of ACS may inform the development of interventions for those at risk for ACS.
